Almost time! September 13, 2016

Brooklyn was set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 8:15pm. Grandma and Grandpa Hermansen, Marci and her girls, Candice, Shane and Valarie and Brian and I were able to be there. Bishop Holladay and the whole Stake Presidency, including Brian gave her wonderful counsel.

Bishop Holladay – He told Brooklyn this was a golden time. D&C 90:11. He remembered first knowing her as a little girl starting kindergarten. Time goes so fast. This is a time to devote to the Savior.
President Isaac – Showed a video of missionaries teaching Elder & Sister Cook. He told her that she can make promises when teaching. Four minutes can be powerful. The Spirit conveys the truth.
President Knudsen – Savior’s prayers for others. Luke 22. Think of the Savior praying for you, that your faith will not fail. Intercessory prayer- for anyone that hears the word. Think of all the temples and how many sessions a day in each one and that the missionaries are always prayed for.  That’s a lot of prayers in your behalf. In Abraham there’s a pattern for each day…creation…obeyed…obeyed and obeyed. It was good. We are invited to obey.  Be close to your mission president and his wife.  You’ll be able to learn a great deal from them.
Dad --This was my mission scripture and it’s still one of my favorites.  D&C 82:10 “I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say.  But when ye do not what I say ye have no promise.”  2 Nephi 2:25 “Adam fell that men might be.  Men are that they might have joy.”  People should see us being happy as we live the gospel.  It will draw people to you.  Work hard and have fun.  It’s much easier for the Lord to bless you when you’re obedient.  Be the kind of missionary that you’ve looked up to and enjoyed being around.  I love you!!!

(We took notes during her Setting Apart)

"As a full time missionary you will have rights and privileges. Because of your desire to serve you will have great energy and great strength when needed. You were blessed to be happy. Remember to readily share your feelings and reflect and call upon memories and experiences you have already had in your life. Past experiences will help you know what you should do. You will have the ability to recognize things you’ve been taught by your parents, grandparents and leaders. As you work you will be able to come to know those who preside over missionary work in wards and stakes and be able to work in harmony with them. You were blessed to have love for your companions and serve in harmony and unity together. This will give you great strength and spiritual help and guidance throughout your mission. You have been blessed with many gifts. All gifts of the Spirit will be available to you. You will be able to recognize great instruction and teachings you’ve had in your home from your family as you teach the Gospel. Focus on your responsibilities and be obedient and you will feel the direction of the Holy Ghost. Act upon those promptings and allow him to guide you. You were blessed with health and strength, safety and especially while traveling, safety. You were blessed with wisdom and judgement. This can be a great season of joy and happiness as you serve with your heart, might, mind and strength."

All who were in the circle that set her apart as a missionary.

Grandma and Grandpa Hermansen were able to come too.
