Leaving the MTC and on to MMM! October 5, 2016

Brooklyn didn't get a P-day the last week she was in the MTC, because she was leaving the day before her P-day. We knew she would try and call us from the airport that morning though, so we made sure our cell phones were charged and sitting on our nightstands. We went to bed, excited and hoping she would get a chance to call--you never know. If they are running behind or there aren't any pay phones available, she might not get the chance. Around 5am my cell phone rang! I answered it to hear a bubbly, happy voice on the other end. Brooklyn's companion, Sister Wilcox had a phone her parents had given her to use at the airport. Since they were all loaded and riding Front Runner to the Trax station, they were passing the phone around to all the missionaries to call home, which was really nice since they were just sitting on the train anyway. We were able to talk for a good 20 minutes. It was so fun to hear her happy voice. They had spent the previous evening packing and hardly slept at all. Then had to get up super early to get ready and take a shuttle to the Front Runner train. I asked her how she was handling her 2 big suitcases by herself and she admitted it was hard, but she was doing it! All the sister's had the same big luggage they were struggling with by themselves. After our call we tried to go back to sleep, but it was hard. A couple of hours later I got ANOTHER surprise call! She called me again from the airport while they were waiting to board the plane. They still had some minutes left of the phone and were using it up! She told me to guess what she had for breakfast. Cafe Rio! hahaha  I told her I hoped she didn't regret that during her flight. It was such a great day!

Later that afternoon I received a text from her Mission President's wife, Sister Forbes. It had a darling picture of all the missionaries they had picked up from the airport that day. She said they had arrived safely and she was delighted to meet them.

We also received an email from the mission offices showing us a cute picture of Brooklyn with her Mission President and his wife, and then with her first companion, Sister Heiner.

"We had a wonderful day!  We are happy to have your daughter serve here!  She has a wonderful companion!"
